Core Principles: 4C Leadership
Based on our simple and inclusive 4C Leader Framework™ - blending the interdependent attributes of competence, character, conviction and courage - we focus on providing innovative program designs, sharing research, and building opportunities for collaborative networking that assist better leaders to realize better futures.
Specifically, we:
- Analyze and integrate emerging research and views on societal leadership to provide ideas, perspectives, insights, and options for action by us and others;
- Provide collaborative, innovation-focused opportunities for better leaders to share their ideas and connect with others striving for positive changes to well-being in their environments, communities and organizations; and,
- Communicate our thoughts and ideas in ways that people find objectively convincing, and which help to animate and energize them to pursue a better future.
The Foundation's program design, participatory research, and collaborative innovation activities are structured to help individuals acquire the types of transformative leadership capacity that will contribute to lasting societal well-being in their surrounding environments, communities and organizations. Each is based on the fundamental belief that all people have the inherent capacity to display and develop their leadership talents, and that their personal efforts are enhanced by widespread collaboration and active knowledge sharing.
To support the building of new ideas and approaches, we identify and share new and transformative ideas about the practice of leadership. From this, we distil practical, specific steps that these leaders can take to ensure effective design and implementation of initiatives that promote enhanced societal well-being. This includes finding more innovative and effective ways of measuring the results of these initiatives over time, particularly in terms of their contribution to enhancing societal progress.
Supporting the Foundation's main research and education mandate is an active program of knowledge sharing through roundtables, workshops, specialized conferences, and web-based collaboration tools. We offer strategic advice and support to counterpart organizations, and seek to build a broad network of informed and influential supporters.
