You see things; and you say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"

Jack Layton and the passion of societal leadership

One does not have to have agreed with the politics of the man or his party to recognize the special inspiration that drove Jack Layton throughout his career.

From his early days as a city councillor in Toronto, to being a life-long supporter of many seemingly lost causes, to the drive and determination that led him and his party to pull off one of the most stunning electoral turn-overs in Canadian political history despite his own growing sickness, Mr. Layton wore his conscience and his passion on his sleeve. As his character and actions portray, he was a true inspiration to all who may feel hesitant to step forward and make a genuine contribution to this world.

Better than we could express it, his final letter to Canadians pays tribute to his commitment to the ideals of societal leadership, and calls on each of us to rise the ongoing challenge of building a better world.
